Dear Families,

Staff Professional Learning Day

Last Friday our staff came together to reflect on our learning and teaching at St Roch’s to clarify our Strategic Intent: ‘We are committed to the full flourishing of all, using evidence based learning that promotes agency, values feedback and enriches our Catholic Identity’. This statement aligns with the MACS 2030 Vision that recognises the need to teach explicitly using research based learning and teaching strategies that cater for the individual students in our school. Our aim is to optimise learning for all through explicit instruction. Central to our professional learning of the day was to gain a deeper understanding of the Science of Learning using Rosenshine’s Principles to understand more fully how students learn. The day was a wonderful example of the collaborative approach our staff have to planning for the learning and teaching of our students. Our Learning Intentions included reflecting on what we do well, what could be improved and what goals we can set to ensure that we are inspiring and enabling our students to flourish.
